Adar & Mimi, a boutique, is also opening for the second year in 5^th Avenue Place, downtown in the Highmark Building on 5^th and Liberty. I'm so excited to share two new custom canvas creations with everyone. I know some of you have seen Jodi on canvas with the saying ... "You're NOT the boss of me!"

She is hanging up in the studio as we speak. WeLL ... a dear friend of mine popped over to the house a few weeks ago and spent some time in the studio. She LOVED the Jodi canvas but wanted me to create something just for her. Something truly custom and unique. We decided to create a doll for each of her two girls and hand picked the perfect quote for each daughter.

I am having a blast painting UgLee's on canvas! I start with artist quality back-stapled, stretched cotton canvas. Each painting is loaded with multiple layers and shades of vibrant "BuTT UgLee" color.

*** Each painting is an original! They are not digital images printed on canvas and then stretched..

Each canvas is hand painted by me. Their sayings or quotes may be the same but no two will ever look exactly alike. ***

I am thrilled to announce BuTT UgLee's first local show! BuTT UgLee will attend the Christmas in Fox Chapel Holiday Boutique. This is their 29th year and the show benefits the Pittsburgh Food Bank.

One YeaR aGo ToDaY ...

I packed up my life, kissed my daughter goodbye and headed for Denver International Airport to pick up my big sister. In the back of my VW convertible beetle was my Bernese Mountain dog named Lilly ... we scooped up my big Sis and drove over 1400 miles to her home (now mine!) in Wexford, Pa. My belongings arrived a few days later. Everything fit in 2 small relo-cubes.

This is what my garage looked like back then. I was trying to pack and get ready for a garage sale at the same time.

The trunk on this beetle is about the size of a tampon!
I had to make sure Lilly had the entire back seat so we (My sister and I) had to travel light on our road trip back to her home and family in Wexford.

I wanted to take pictures of the "event" as it unfolded. The truck driver thought I was nuts.
I think I was just happy to see the cubes finally packed and headed out East.

Four days and over 1400 miles later we all arrived safe and sound ... parked in our new driveway.

Here is a shot I took of Lilly out by the pool house. She was so good on our road trip.

Home in Wexford

Home from the back.

I had lived out west my entire adult life ... 20 years in Denver and 3 in Seattle. It was hard to leave but I knew in my heart I was going to be OK and I was doing the right thing. Saying goodbye to my daughter was not easy. She was so brave to stay and follow her own path at the age of 19. She is now an artist in her own right. A dancer, designer, hair, make-up and modeling ... a style unique to her. Sam is my hero.

I have learned and accomplished so much this past year. It's almost too overwhelming to think about. I thought I'd take "today off" and read through my journal entries over the past year. Aside from the fact that I have major PMS and can't seem to function anyway ... I think today is a great day to just honor the little girl in me who has come so far.

I am madly in love with truly unique pieces of jewelry.

I broke down and bought this sweet piece yesterday.

" Cuff Bracelet "
Handmade copper cuff with hand done patina for an antique look. I have used nice thick copper.
Number tag was found on vintage National Cash Register

I am drawn to anything with numbers on it.

The fact that it's a re-purposed piece makes me giggle even more.

I wonder where that #4 came from and who worked behind this register every day.

It's about the history and the possibilities of it all.

This is my happy face!

I love Moleskins!
I can't even begin to tell you how many I have. They make me happy. Last year they came out with a Moleskin binder. I nearly flipped! I bought one thinking that someday when I made the time I would paint it. To me ... just about any surface is paint-able.
I like the idea of taking something dull ... like a plain black binder and turning it into a piece of art. Especially when it is something I can use every day! I worked a bit more on this last night so I'll have to take a few shots when the lighting is better (very gloomy here today) and post them this afternoon.

This is the cover. Venus is one of my new characters.

Here is a shot of the binder open so U can see both the front and the back.

This is the back. I plan on adding one of my favorite John Wayne quotes here.

This is what the inside looks like BEFORE I get my hands on it.

Make time to go to either the main Moleskin website or hit up You Tube and type in Moleskin art as your search word. You will just die when you see what people have done with their Moleskins. It's like a whole new world!

New BuTT UgLee CanVas!

I finally finished a canvas I have been working on for months! I didn't work on it everyday ... I sat for a long time waiting patiently for me to decide how to proceed. I'm pleased with how it turned out and will find it hard to part with. I found this poem by Anais Nin over a year ago. It knocked me over like a freight train. This poem gave me the courage to make some serious life changes.

It gave me the courage to leave my home in Littleton, Colorado and move to Wexford, Pa with my sisters family. I left behind over 20 years of history, my daughter (then 19 yrs old), my friends, neighbors, and my two tabby cats, in order to start a new life. Never in my wildest dreams did I think my life would come to this.

As I write this and look back it just makes my heart ache. Who was that girl back then? What the hell was she thinking? There hasn't been a day that goes by that I thank my lucky stars for making the hard choices that had to be made.

I hope that someone out there will see this canvas, have their own moment of truth and give it a great home. Kind of like passing the torch.

I plan on uploading "BlossoM" to my Etsy shop later this week. Enjoy!

You have no idea how excited I am to have a place to blab again. I have been looking for ways to cut my spending (So I can buy more paints.) thus the decision was made to switch to a blog platform that was FREE!
